Camp Venture is a summer day camp for special kids and for kids who just like to feel special. Created 35 years ago by a group of parents as "a place in the sun" for Rockland children with developmental disabilities, the camp has since evolved into a uniquely affirming integrated summer recreational experience. It's a warm fun nurturing place where doing your best is more important than being the best and kids have names instead of labels.

As an integrated day camp we focus on fun, inclusion and respect for our similarities.

In keeping with the mission of the Camp Venture agency, we are able to offer a free camp experience to children with mental retardation and autism. Other children are invited to attend for a nominal weekly fee.

Camp Venture has developed a program of activities based on group engagement. Children should be able to function in a group setting. Preference is offered to special kids who have not been offered a 12-month school program.

All residents of Rockland County may apply to have their children attend our summer camp. Completed applications are reviewed on a first received basis and parents are notified when their child is accepted.
