Ninth Annual Autism Symposium

Ninth Annual Autism Symposium

The 9th Annual Autism Symposium continued a tradition of excellence bringing the foremost experts in autism research, treatment and policy to Rockland County. The even is presented and supported by the MindWorks Charitable Trust as a resource to the community.

Speaking to an audience of over 500 parents, self-advocates, educators, developmental disabilities staff and professionals at the Pearl River Hilton on October 30, 2014, a renowned assembly of presenters offered the latest information on autism research, programing, treatment and disability policy. This year’s event was hosted by Venture President and Rockland County Legislator, John Murphy and featured presentations by Peter Pierri, Executive Director of the Inter Agency Council of developmental disabilities agencies, Dr. Vincent Carbone of the Carbone Clinic, Alison Singer, President of the Autism Science Foundation, Michael Storz, President of Chapel Haven, Inc. and Dr. Fred Volkmar, Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology at the Yale Study Center.

“Information is power and to really help people on the autism spectrum and their families, we need to work toward understanding,” explains Venture President, John Murphy. “This event has become a tradition in Rockland County and there isn’t another symposium in the world that offers speakers of this   caliber. We are very greatful to MindWorks for making this possible.”

Again, many thanks to the MindWorks Charitable trust for this important presentation.
