Primary Election Narrows Field to Two:

Ryan and Jennifer Advance

With the vote count distinguishing the winners by one of the narrowest margins in Council history, Ryan of Nanuet House and Jennifer of the Joyce Warner House, emerged from a field of four candidates to lock in positions on the November ballot in this hotly contested race for the Camp Venture Council of Advocates leadership.

The Camp Venture Council of Advocates is the agency’s self advocacy group which presides over the Town Meeting forum. With a residence population of over 200 and with over 150 active members, the Council is a major force in the life of Camp Venture.

Returns were slow in coming in as the primary is held at the residences and so tensions were high as candidates waited for more than a week for news of the election results. And, when informed of the outcome, Jennifer said that she was pleased but asserted that the real work of the campaign was still ahead. Ryan offered thanks to the electorate for their confidence and trust.

Election day is Monday November 11, with the polling to take place at the Town Meeting. The program will open with speeches from the respective candidates followed by a secret ballot. The winner takes office following the election and appoints their cabinet, by the following Town Meeting.

“ The candidates ran a fine campaign and I am very proud of each of them for their participation,” said agency Executive Director, Dan Lukens. “I look forward to working with the new leadership.”
