The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz

The Venture Creative Art program’s production of the Wizard of Oz played to capacity audiences in both their Thursday June 12, performance and their Friday June 13, matinee.

With more than 300 people packing the Center ‘s Coleman/Gromack auditorium, the excitement was palpable on opening night as the overture played and the curtain came up for Act 1. And, it just got better from there.

An ensemble cast brought this iconic classic to life in a visually stunning spectacle that combined live action and multimedia performances. With all the whit and charm of Broadway’s best, the Venture version was truer to the 1939 movie than the more recent stage interpretations.

The costumes, sets and multimedia were amazing and only exceeded by the remarkable live performances. All the characters that we have come to know and love, from a Dorothy was even cuter than the Julie Garland version, to the the Good Witch, the Wicked Witch, the Wizard, Scarecrow, Tin man, Cowardly Lion and an amazing host of munchkins.

Many thanks to Krista, the Creative Arts staff, the players and all the staff and volunteers who made possible this wonderful performance.
